I think so. If not, they are going to miss out on something huge. A homegrown social networking platform will be wildly successful as they can cater to the Indian public better than the Orkuts and Facebooks of the world.

Are there venture capitaliss/ angel investors focussed on funding SNS sites or internet based products for the Indian market ?

I agree. But I think we need a homegrown SNS for efficient monetization. There isn’t any such SNS.

A good article, however I would disagree that SNS won’t work in India. SNS is already working in India, orkut has a huge number of Indians. The only thing missing is the presence of online transactions and advertising/selling medium. As soon as it comes in India will rock.
