The purists of carnatic music are very rigid about how it should be sung. I suppose the blog author is trying to make a parody of them.

this is amusing. both the words 'kodu' and 'redu' are considered archaic now. 'redu' is sometimes used in poetry, songs etc., 'kodu' is extinct i think. i guess, in madras these things are hotly debated in some circles (is the note at the end meant for them?) but as a non-rasika, i'm always pleased to hear these kirtans/kritis sung by tamils or malayalees or kannadigas. and i can usually understand what they're trying to sing (the words i mean)- it's only the words that i understand, actually.(and most telugus would discuss poetry more than music, i read somewhere).. so generally, in my view, no great harm is done, in my view- but in the circles i mentioned earlier, this might be considered a great crime. isn't the whole tradition about maintaining purity?
