Obsession with numbers

Pablo writes about the obsession with numbers, when it comes to talking about growth

Of course, all these funds, stocks and what not, just reflect one of the main problems of capitalism, as many people have written, the need for constant and bigger growth. That obsession with numbers so tipical; whether the GDP of India will be bigger that the USA’s in 20xx or 20yy, whether the economy grows so much per year and it is projected to grow that much, etc, etc. These are numbers, but reflect an idea that everything has to be bigger (in numbers) per year. Perhaps we don’t need to worry so much about how much we grow, and rather start thinking on how we grow. Does economic growth reflects in social growth? Are the people are the bottom also growing?
