I’d seen a video of La Traviata a long while ago, and I can hum along fairly faithfully with sections of the score, but the performance aspect of it can really be sensed only when it’s live. At this show, the last of its run in New York, there was electricity on stage, and the orchestra was remarkable. But everything was outdone by Franco Zeffirelli’s set design.
