Politics of Mayawati

Amrit is pretty impressed with the Politics of Mayawati. We have seen a Dalit President and a Dalit Chief Justice. It will be nice to see a Dalit on PM chair too.

Most of our politicians are evil, and they are stupid. No one has political acumen. They are manipulative, they are cunning, they are worse then the mafia, but when it comes to politics, they know nothing. Even if some have good intentions, they don’t know how to show those intentions. Mayawati knows her politics. She has shown all signs of political and ideological evolution. She is not stuck with her own views of the world.

If you look at the politicians of the late 20th century, specially the dalits, there is only one name, Kanshi Ram, mentor of Mayawati. He struggled and rose rather evolved in the system but Mayawati never evolved any of the doctrines related to the emancipation of the less privileged. She is a opportunist and always puts her prejudices before the decisions of her party, needs of RAJNITI and of course needs of the society. I support to some extent”Jitni jinki sankhya bhari, Utni unki hissedari”, but this doctorine also has limitations. Kanshi Ram certainly needs a mention when it comes to the Dalit politics.

If the so called politicians from upper classes (in spite of their continuous access to education from time immemorial) can make statements and killings out of prejudice and get away with it, Mayawati is far better compared to them. Even though she is from a class who were denied access to education for several thousand years, she could think and she has rectified her mistakes but the upper class politicians refuse to even learn from their mistakes. I do agree that Kanshi Ram should be mentioned in Dalit politics but Mayawati is far superior compared to many other politicians in the country. I will always respect a person who is willing to learn from their mistakes than sticking on to their beliefs vigorously.

    At A Rally For Mayawati
    For a feat,
    rose petals
    at their feet

    Her beauty
    stuns my ignorance

    My friend
    is so exuberant
    so endowed in joy
    I cast aside
    my bias

    When I laugh
    embraced by her,
    I am merely
    superior caste
    of birth
    unearned by virtue, but
    in our revelations
    that we have been, and
    always will be,
    I cast rose petals
    at our feat

    I rejoice at her rally
    unashamed to
    light her fireworks
    be doused by colored powders,
    share sweets

    I will be your Dalit
if you will be my Brahmin

    Utterly enmeshed
    in Uttar Pradesh,
    we are elected
    to a parliament of love

Mayawati has been one of the most astute and intelligent politicians of our era. I mean how many of our politicians of our time, you see with ample education and Mayawati is an accomplished Lawyer, which is great.

Kanshi Ram, her mentor definitely needs to be mentioned and there should not be any difference of opinion here in the fact that her approach is the product of Kanshi Ram’s forsightedness.

She has brought about a great change in Indian politics where it has become clear that dalits can’t be ignored and other castes better start shedding their prejudice and assimilate with dalits. There is no choice. Either you are with dalits or you are not and if you are not sooner or later, you will have to be or you will be virtually nonexistent and powerless.

Many people complain tat she is opportunistic. I ask what is wrong in that, you can’t improve the lives of people by merely speeches alone. You need power to make diference in their lives, to give them rights etc.

Good Luck to the TRUE indian Mayawati. Let this be start of breaking of barriers between castes and a concerted effort to make India a proud country again.

    A Dalit
