In the Land of Seven Sisters

Badly Drawn Girl writes on the stripping and beating of an adivasi woman in Guwahati yesterday.
peaceful protest on a street of guwahati (assam) turned violent. an adivasi woman was stripped naked, chased after, kicked repeatedly on her breasts and vagina and paraded down the street. This news played over and over again with a caption on the top right of the screen saying “Shame”, while Assam’s chief minister was heard in the background calling the incident “unfortunate” and still saying that “they remain undivided”. i don’t know the woman’s name - the journalists reporting the incident did not think it necessary to say.

The incident was indeed shameful and the short poem by “Badly drawn girl” was beautifully written.

But not relating to this issue, I’m just curious as to why this post here is entitled “In the land of the seven sisters”? :-) I can assure you, this is one incident the other “six sisters” wouldn’t wanna be associated with right now.

The incident was indeed shameful and the poem by Badly drawn girl is beautifully written and executed. Brings out the whole journey in complete detail.

Not relating to this issue, I was just wondering why this particular post here is entitled “In the land of the seven sisters”? I can assure you this incident is something the other “six sisters” wouldn’t wanna be associated with right now… :-(

No offense meant to any of the sisters, I just wanted to make the title catchy.

The incient written here is a way distance from the truth. Media just want a clue to go against of anything actually happened.
The woman was burning houses and shops of locals. It was not a peaceful protest. they were demaging residents of locals and the shops. it was the seventh shop that the woman went to burn and the shopkeeper catched her and she was sripped. but the other thing written here is false.the guys who did were not even assamese.
At that time only local took her and gave some coths. the guys who did it, were punished

What wud it be if a woman start burning shops and houses in any other place in india?
This thing should not happened in anywhere, in guwahati also. But why media added such masala and taken the story against seven sister?
There are so many good thing happened in north east, the midia never bother about it. Now they got a point to turn against seven sister…….hopeless so called mainstram indian and their media.
