After the victory

Soumyadip believes all credit for the victory goes to the team, while the BCCI is wiping egg on its face.

The BCCI had initially phoo-phooed the idea of Twenty20 only to reluctantly embrace it. The launch of the Indian Cricket League opened the eyes of the custodians of the game of cricket in India to launch their own version of a domestic T20 league. Now with the success of the Indian team at the World Cup the BCCI is attempting to wipe of the egg on its face (it is by now quite used to it) with currency notes worth approximately rupees nine crore (that’s what Ravi Shastri announced as reward for Team India and Yuvraj Singh on behalf of the BCCI).

Sunita sees the absence of senior players as a positive

The best was the fact that the team had made it without the 3 senior players. Experience surely helps but you need the fire in your belly to take chances and believe you can do it when it seems practically impossible. For some reason, with the top 3 stars, there seems to be issues with ego, personal milestones and scores to be settled.

Manish has some notes from an advertising perpective

4. Media Innovation. If you ask me the best media innovation would be to air shorter TVCs. If the overs have reduced from 50 to 20, shouldn’t the TVC duration be reduced to 5 seconders or some such thing:-)

Sharique was disturbed by Shoaib Malik’s apology

Shoaib Malik after the match remarked, or rather apologized, to the entire Muslims for losing! I found it extremely disturbing, to say the least. How justified is to associate the whole Muslim world with the cricket team of Pakistan?

And finally an alternative view from Aditya, who doesn’t follow cricket..

The problem of being a non-cricket watching Indian is that many people think of that as being the same as being an orangutan – Almost human, but not quite.

I liked Aditya’s statement. Apart from us sharing names, he also seems to voice the same concern as I… ie.. not being a cricket fanatic.

Shariq’s disturbance is as lame as Malik’s statement. Shariq and other Indian Muslims trying to create a fuss nothing.

I have covered this lame and useless propaganda on my blog as well. Read here.
