To paraphrase V and the popular rhyme – remember, remember the Sixth of December. These bloggers do.
Fellow Blogbhartian, Bhupinder, believes it is still 6 December:
The Janus faced Vajpayee had proclaimed on the eve of the demolition that zameen ko samthal banan hoga (literally- the ground has to be evened out, in other words, the Masjid has to be razed to the level of the ground). Narendra Modi yesterday called for meting out street smart justice a la Bal Thackeray, to anyone that he considers to be a guilty.
Arzaan seems to agree
However in recent years we seem not to have learnt from our lessons. We still have scumbags like Narendra Modi who rules over an Indian State. [..] It is a breakdown of democracy that the chief minister of Gujarat can do what he wants and we as citzens cannot do anything about him.
Over at Indian Muslims, Asad Mustafa recollects that day when his neighbours, to ensure safety, asked his father to paint a new name over their name-plate:
“Think of some “neutral” name for your house and write over it”, suggests someone.
“Aman”, my father mumbles in defeated tones. “Aman means peace. What better name in these troubled times?”
Others are not so sure. “Aman is too Urdu-is. It sounds Muslim. Think of something else- something more neutral.”
My father is speechless. This is Lucknow! … birth place of Urdu; this is where during Ram Charit Maanas akhand-paaths, someone will invariably ask for – and be provided with – a copy of Ram Charit Maanas in Urdu script, since this is all he can read. This is where you could be surprised by a chaste Urdu diction from a tonga-wallah. But, no; “aman” is too-Urdu-is. It won’t do in Lucknow. When did these fault lines become so sharp?
And for those wondering about justice, 15 years later, a special court in Rae Bareli called it’s first witness in the Babri Masjid demolition case, recording the statement of one Hanuman Prasad. [News link]

WC – Whoa dude, chill. Who’s reacting as if the world crumbled? Me? Those bloggers? Did you even read those blogs? Where did any of them even mention that the world crumbled, or where did they shed any crocodile tears for anyone? You said it well – It is indeed a Kafkaesque world when we write to remember a day in history and get accused of assorted, unrelated, stuff.
