Khoya Khoya Chand reviews

This is why I love blogs. At PFC, we’ve got the director talking about his movie pre-release, a cult director worrying about it and a reviewer fretting after seeing it.

Director Sudhir Mishra before the movie release:

With Khoya Khoya Chand, I have taken a story which any of the film makers of the fifties could have made except I have not let my self be governed by the morality or the technique of that time. So every time I have gone further into a scene where they might have cut before.

Director Anurag Kashyap post movie premiere:

I am really scared that they are going to kill a film that i think is an extremely accomplished work of art.OK the film is inconsistent in parts, maybe it was cut down too much hence bringing in the inconsistency but still it’s importance can not be denied.

And PFC reviewer Thani:

Khoya Khoya Chand’ seesaws between careful detailing (period & otherwise) and careless left-to-assume & imagine-oneself detailing (again, period & otherwise). In the evocative imagination of the times there are occasions when one wonders if Sudhir Mishra actually made films in the era of the 60s that he’s talking about.

Outside of PFC, Rags isn’t thrilled:

Every story should have a purpose (not necessarily a message) and direction. But Sudhir Mishra’s story and script seem directionless and pointless. What is he trying to project in this film? Is this just an indulgent tribute to cinema of the past?

All this aside, I’d see it only for that magnificent title track. Isn’t it just beautiful?

Lyrics of Khoya Khoya Chand are awesome. Lyricist could successfully maintain a rapport with poetry and film-situation. The song “Khoye khoye chand ki talash mein udaas hai dil” depicts the present scenario of what is going on our inside world and how our heart, our approach and view point is affected. This small breakages finally demand its own space. Such poetry is the result of this not-so-good-life. Lyricist really deserve appreciations. He is very successful in exhibiting situation where a person thinks, where, at the same time, heart(mind) also not only support that but demand for a space for itself.
