Join Blogbharti facebook group.I appreciate the view that the subject of sex should be handled with subtlety and sensitivity as it can easily degenerate into realm of the crude and vulgar and this is precisely why these explicit jokes are termed “dirty”. Trouble is that Sex is an essential aspect of life and we cannot pretend that “good people” do not indulge in it! I think the best way to approach the subject is to demystify it and look at it as a normal part of life - neither profane or sacred. I am sure that would get rid of much of sexual abuse and unhealthy practices which are a result of sexual repression or the taboos associated with talking normally about sex.


Usha, you are thinking in the right direction. But what needs to be done before this is to remove the misconception that religion does not favour sex. All religious heads proclaim that a religious person should abstain from sexual practises. They make us believe that enjoying carnal pleasures is akin to sin, which is totally incorrect. I feel that it is as much a part of our daily lives, as is eating, drinking or any other daily activity. I simply do not understand the double standards of this country where defecation in public is a no-issue, whereas…
I as an individual always make sure that I do not feel embarassed at the mention of th S word, nor do I try to make fun using the same in public. Let us try to free the society from the shackles that we ourselves have bonded with.
