Racial Prejudice and North-East India

V K Shashikumar publishes an email from Nenem Misao in response to an article titled “Drug Peddling by Northeast Girls” published in a tabloid, Mail Today.

Every community has its population of drug peddlers and prostitutes or are you saying there are no drug peddlers and prostitutes in the rest of the indian population? this is the classic indian sexual hypocrisy rearing its head again. stereotyping its women as sati savitris and women from other communities as “loose and immoral”. the customers for this market are all the delhi north indian population if u want to get down to stereotyping. but that is not hte point.

I can bear such prejudices and tactless comment by some tom, dick or harry. But by a member of the fourth estate? That really freaking hurts. Made be pour out my heart at this whole issue too. I don’t know how long people are going to stereotype us with the first image that comes to their mind.

Why North East Girls alone? As if mainland Indian ladies are very good natured. I think this prejudice, even from the fourth estate, should be taken seriously and the so called leaders should take up this issue. They talk about our way of dressing as vulgar, revealing when they themselves dress like that (mini skirt, tight jeans, revealing shirts and the list goes on). Is there no prostitutes among the mainland indians?

I hate Indian Hypocracy. The North Indians are just sick abt sex. How many North east girls found in prostitution racket? Till date, there is no records. Most of them are North Indian. North East gilrs are more indipendent and strong. They are out of the male domonated north indian hypocracy sociaty. So the sick north indian male can’t see so much independent and open minended that the north east girls are as the indian male are seeing theirs gilrs supressed by them.
I just hate them. Thay are mentaly sick, who even dont know how to respect their own sister.
If we dress like that, this is our way of dressing from childhood. but they are grown up seeing the sati savitri who slept with them at night. They really need some brain to understand the liberity, the right of women.

When will we Indians learn to live together? When will be realise that our weakness is out disunity? When will this discrimination, this division of people on basis of caste, region, religion end?

Ever-increasing murders, rapes, corruption; are these the signs of a future superpower which India hopes to be one day?

I am not from the North-east or ever had many friends from north-east India. I am an Oriya who has spent most of his life in Delhi (14 out of 20 years). Sometimes I wonder, I had people from all places in my school, I have people from all places in my college but very few from north-east India. Why is it so? Why hasn’t this part of our country as integrated as the other regions? Yes, we should blame the government but it actually we the people of India who are at fault.

I hope that there comes a day when everyone is referred to as an Indian and not as a Chinki, Madrasi, Bihari etc.

The sentiments and mindsets of Indians are immature in every sphere of life. Everyone is selfish, self-centred and corrupted.
By tradition most of the North-eastern people are liberal and friendly. they respect other religions, culture and traditions. But when we stay in Mainland India, it is totally different. They are too conservative, rude, unfriendly and intrusive. They seems to act as a good person outwardly but inwardly they are no worse than a demon. You’ll see how we respect the mainland indian living in north-east. They won’t complain about racial discrimination there. Because North-east people usually treat everyone as one irrespective of caste and creed. They don’t bother about which community or tribes you belongs.

But the same is tottaly different in mainland Indian. When Indians are discriminated in other countries, they make a hue and cry for justice and even rocked the whole country and medias are abound with blaming notes to those perpetrators.

For the mainland Indians this is for your message: ” Mind your fucking business to cultivate the moral attiude of rerspecting others cultures and traditions. North-eastern people are not your type of being hypocrite and they are not abusive like you Indians.”

Mainland Indians are sick mentally and physically. Blaming others unecessarily without knowing about themselves is their duty. Just ignore them and think them as their habit. I ahte talking about them.
