Krish links to a Washington Post story on Michael Thevar, Co-owner of Temp Solutions, Philadelphia, who has been quietly doing for the past several years what the organized private sector in India has been busy finding excuses for the last two years to avoid: hiring educated Dalit and lower caste employees. Thevar has made it a mission, it’d look like, to go out of the way to identify and help lower caste job aspirants. Krish says:

Michael Thevar himself is segregating people based on caste. For the uplifting of the society, he should give jobs to those who are poor in general, not those who are poor in the dalit communities. What’s the fault of a qualified person who’s poor but not a Dalit? Does he not deserve a job in Thevar’s company? Only then can we progress. We keep insisting on eliminating all kinds of segregation and discrimination - caste based, sex based or economic condition based. And yet, we keep introducing more and more rules that makes sure that such segregation remains.
When a person is being recruited for a job, or getting a seat in a college, there should be absolutely no “special” cases whatsoever. If you are giving priority to people just because they are from SC/ST background, then in spite of them getting low marks, they still are getting seats and jobs, although others are better qualified for the job, just because of their belonging to SC/ST, who also pay reduced fees in colleges. Such seats/jobs should be given to people purely based on merit, and a little concession based on their economic background only - only the poor deserve reduced fees in seats, only because they can’t pay. Otherwise nobody deserves such partial treatment. Even the cost of forms for JEE exams is Rs. 1000 for boys and Rs. 500 for girls. Everywhere we are making distinction to eliminate discrimination which further strengthens the differences. Only if everyone are seen as the same can we eliminate it.

I agree with U to some extent that Poor from all communities should be considered for reservations or help. But I totally disagree with your comment on Michael Thevar. Why U think he is segregating people ?? U tell me how many genuine or true intentioned people in the country or NRIs have made any efforts or anything regarding this. U dont know we are living in India, where still Casteism, being ‘Low Caste’ is a STIGMA to Progress or Fit among other — while in Job, Sports, etc.
U tell me changing incidents or scenario in India, where Low Caste people accepted as others.
I understand tht U are disgusted or humiliated due to missing opportunities or growth, for just being Economically Backward. But More Importantly — Importance should be given to Low Caste, so that there is Unity or Uniformness in Wealth, Status at par with Castes(in India). My Dear Friend Nikhil I saying with my years of wider
experience, as a Automobile Engineer turned Social Worker.
So, its wrong on your part to say that or Critisize Mr Michael Thevar is Discriminating or Segregating People. Its very very easy to find a helping person in your community/caste; but not a person in any religion/caste to help Low Caste, Marginalized Castes in India.
Imagine — I am leading Sportsman; how it plays in mind if i am Discriminated?? Unfortunately our Hinduism though its on of the Greatest Religion or way of Life; still our Indian Society has not reached to a Humanity Way yet!!

The caste system of India was a good system at one point of time. The relegion or in other words science as it is will be always the best as every other religion arrived from the hindu or correclty the sages of INDIA. Every one cannot be the king and everyone cannot be the worker, that is where caste system comes into play and everyone is not equal by birth in some manners and equal in some manners. WHile I treat dalits as humans and hate slavery, they turn into christians and confuse the masses. WHy? is Hinduism not a good option or have they known sufficient about hinduism?. The confusion began with the brahmins and they are the people who need to be condemned as their nature is to cheat and be pimps. Are there no books in our languages on our own culture, PLENTY!!! read them before concluding.
