Dr. K. Purushotham, Associate Professor of English, Kakatiya University, has undertaken the challenging task of bringing out an anthology of Dalit Poetry. In his own words:
I am planning to bring out an anthology of Dalit Poetry in English translation from different languages of India. This task cannot be accomplished without the cooperation of the translators from other languages. Therefore, I have planned to bring out the proposed anthology by associating an editor for each of the languages. Those interested in translating and/or editing the Dalit poems from their languages to English are requested to associate with this project.
We request all Blogbharti readers: if you think you can help out, or if you know someone who is capable of helping out with this project, please write to purushotham_ku@hotmail.com. Please keep in mind that the person who wishes to assist has not just the interest, but also the necessary skills to translate poetry from any one of the major Indian languages (except Telugu)- Punjabi, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali etc., into English.
We also request you to link to this post/news on your blog/s so that it reaches as many people as possible in the diverse Indian blogging community.

Dear Dr. Purushotham,
I grew up speaking Urdu at home and Gujarati at school. My English writing has been lauded internationally.
I wish to help you translate / transcreate (this is a less known area of work, please ask me to send you samples) from Gujarati dalit poetry. Regarding Urdu, all poetry in this language is largely writen by Muslims -one of the most backward communities, why can’t it be dalip poetry?
Please see my website. Sridala Swami who sent me an alert about your quest is a dear friend.
