Afroz Jahan

Pooja writes about Afroz, an abused, abandoned single woman, who has become an ‘inspiring figure’ for a lot of women and slum dwellers in Lucknow:

She kicks off her day by offering free tutorial classes for the girls of the adjoining area where she resides with her two children and an adopted girl whom she found abandoned two years ago. Her rest of the day is occupied by visiting tailoring schools initiated by her in the city slums. Her self determination has rehabilitated over 200 women, all abandoned or divorced by their husbands.
