I agree that hindi is not our official language!
It feels good to several others. But it has pushed us back a several feets down the stairs.
What they have won is this.
1. A nation which doesn’t have a single identity. No wonder that we have to stick with cricket, coz that is the only thing now we have common. Hindi could have done this very easily. And could have had helped us better. More then watching cricket.
2. Generations which are unfit for actual global and national development. For most of my men/ladies can only be taken up as employees at lower ranks: in india.( They have spent their time is learning a language, which is not their mother tongue and no one who is working in a foreign language whole day is actually working at his/her 60% efficiency).
3. Not fit for employment outside india for they speak a very unpopular language, not at all used in maximum part of the world,(includes max of europe, asia, south america, and max parts of africa.) and that too in a very piculiar way which no one can understand.
4. People who even after completing their graduation have to go back to a speaking school, to learn to speak a language that they have wasted learning since their childhood.
I will conclude, we will make a better nation only once INDIA starts using hindi(or if any other regional language, easily usable) as its official language.
Just think about it why don’t we have good athelets, good architects, good engineers, great doctors, good people, good international businessman, good scientiststs(For GOd’s sake don’t count to me the name of those 100 odd indians, 60 years/ 1 billion population,the resulting rate is pathetic)…People ending up their lives to learn a language that thier vocal muscles are not conditioned for, what else do you expect from them. They will be practicing English to pass the test or do something else. Not possible.
First need for us to have a better tomorrow, is first change our preferences from a foreign language to a local language, like automated systems, people will have a higher concentration ability towards their inner/born capabilities.

I was about to compliment Stuti for her concern over unity among Indians. But i am disappointed to see again that Stuti above suggests that we should never discuss the language issue and we should accept hindi and english as the national language.

Everybody loves their mother tongue ’cause that’s the language we know very well. But India has many cultures and languages. we can make more development if we have proper communication. Language is one of the vital factor for communication. There should be one common language for India, that should be the Hindi. Because many of the states already know the hindi. To be frank I don’t know hindi, but I am trying to learn. Govt of India should implement practice of easy learning not by forcing the students to study at school level. I suggest the govt to implement a program where people can learn Hindi with fun, love ,interest and in enjoyable way.

First of all, if somebody say Hindi is a “north Indian” language, I would say s/he does not know that in “north India” there are many states they have their own languages, i.e., Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal, Uttranchal, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh…. where people do not speak Hindi but their respective mother tongue.

These states are OFFICIALLY Hindi speakers. It means they speak or try to speak in OFFICE but they DO NOT. As they speak their respective languages …like Bagheli, Awadhi, Magahi, Rajasthani, Angika, Vajjika…..
Even in “South India” there are not ONLY FOUR languages…but many prominent languages are also there….Dakhani, TULU, KOTA……..
NOW, there is NOT SOUTH INDIA or NORTH INDIA or NE INDIA or WEST INDIA but INDIA is ONE and there are 22 (TWENTY) OFFICIAL LANGUAGES besides English…CHOOSE WHAT YOU LIKE…better choose any THREE or FOUR but do not FORGET ENGLISH….

Kannada is worlds oldest language, far older and more nuanced than Tamil. Telugu too is derived from kannada.
So there is a case for adopting kannada as official language for all south indian states. This will lead to efficient administration and better spread of kannada language.

I am here to share some of opinions about our Nation and its development,
1. First, We have to see the formation of nation, the so called the Union of India. Union of India was formed by uniting Many provinces after independence, so that we will be able to tackle any foreign attacks in future. So it is as clear as water each and province have their own distintive langauge which they love very much. So for example, Hindi or English is a foreign language for a marati person. So we cant impose either hindi, tamil, telugu or any other language as our National language. Now coming to the official language, English should be given the preference bcoz of the following reasons: As English is the global language for ecocnomy development as it is used in most of the countries, The other reason is Despite Hindi is the langauge which is more familiar in our country, it is not widely spread like English in all the states of India, for example, say most of the UP people know Hindi very well, but most of the people from south and northeast dont understand Hindi(but they can understand English a bit).
2. Next if we see abouth the Nation development, we should not keep on speaking the faults or issues between the province. We should work as a group to overcome this. we can raise as a whole. So it is better to learn two languages for our development.
A. The first language should be our mother tongue or substituted by the regional language or hindi if the person is not been brought up in his own native state( for example, My native state is Tamilnadu but was brought up in Andhra pradesh, so I learnt only Hindi).
B. The Second language is the connecting language. My individual preference is English bcoz of the various reasons stated earlier.
3. I want to share with you about the mostly developed nations in Asia say Japan, South Korea, Singapore. All this nations used one language to develop themselves and now they have reached the heights, bcoz always it is easy to understand and implement if mother tongue is used. Say Japan and south korea used their mother tongue. But to the surprise Singapore being a majorly mandarin speaking country, The connecting language is English as there are 4 official languages in Singapore(as Singapore is very small country with 4 million people 4 official languages are more for a small state). The nice thing abt the Singapore ppl is a Mandarin speaking person does not expect a malay speaking person to communicate with him in mandarin but they use English and they live in harmony and peace. So this shows that even for a small country it is difficult to impose their native language for all.
Think about India which is having 1 billion people. It is better not to impose 3 languages for all which will lead to lots of issues.

Japan GDP is around 4 Trillion for 127 million population( Population as same of UP state)
S.Korea GDP is around 0.9 Trillion for 50 million population
Singapore GDP is around 0.18 Trillion for 5 million population
Our Indian Nation GDP is around 1.2 Trillion for 1.2 billion population
see the difference, do u think it is their intelligence no its their unity which made developed them to such an extent(most of this countries got independence or started developing from 1950 onwards only)
So think accordingly and start acting.

4. The importance of English language is now been felt by the nations like Japan and South Korea and they started learning it. so My vote is for English. But I am not imposing English on all but for the various reasons stated earlier it is better to use it.

YOur opinions are really sensible…During the INdependence time,they wanted hindi to be our common language because of that time period..we had just got freedom from the english men and wanted to show our identity by abolishing english and substituting it with hindi..but things have changed…62 years are passed…Even the hindi fanatics who wants to impose hindi on other non hindi indians,actually knows the fact that hindi is no substitute for english in this 21st century in this global era…India is not an island and it is connected with the world…nothing will develop through hindi..neither can the higher studies be made in hindi..hindi has absolutely no use…it can be preserved just as a mother tongue of some of the Indians…
Even the hindi imposing people know all these things..they just want to make others speak it because they want to take pride in it and show their domination…For example,my mother tongue is Malayalam..when another state person learns my language and speaks it to me,i will get some kind of pleasure..right??? yes…i will get it…The hindi people also wants the same and feel proud about it..dats all…..hindi imposition has nothing to do with India’a unity or anything..Instead , it has only caused intense hatred and brought us to a level of even talking of splitting the nation…even in this blog u can see such commnts…So pls stop trying to dominate…north indians.pls pls pls pls respect others and their dear languages…so that u will also be respected and ensure our unity and brothrhood in diversity….pls understand this….

I am not interested to read whole debate.
But, HINDI is not the language of NORTH INDIA, in real sense HINDI is not a language at all. It is KHADIBOLI which Muslim ruler was using to talk to people which was known as URDU later.
This language is imposed by forcefully on the name of NATIONALISM to the state of RAJASTHAN where everything was in Rajasthani before 1950. Just on the name of being patriotic, Rajasthani lose route of their forefather and now you can see the result of this. Marwari was the dominon business community, but now days they are losing track on business. Their children are looking for easy money and not interested in any kind of business.
Marwari lost their cultural identity in last 60 years. Before 1950 Rajasthan was not INDIA and there was no BRITISH rule in Rajasthan. Just on the Name of HINDUISM, Rajasthan merged in INDIA and then on the name of Nationalism they imposed HINDI on it.
Rajasthan is poorest state of INDIA with less employment opportunity. Reason behind this entire thing is HINDI and only HINDI.
