Random bloggers’ reactions to the budget from Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad

Vatsan, expressing some discontent from Chennai, takes a dig at MK and PC:

This is once again a mere number. If I am not wrong, a few years back the number was as high as Rs 1000 crores. And now an additional Rs 300 crores. But what happens to the money? Well Since our local government shows no desire to complete the project it goes back to the coffers of the central government at the end of the fiscal. Its like the system used by private companies to disguise their profits. They consistently keep aside money for various expenses which wont arise, and that is written off as an expense depressing their profits. The desalination plant near Chennai is one such provision for Mr P Chidambaram.

Please check the comments too- they’re interesting. And now,. here’s Vijay expressing relief from Bangalore:

India’s annual three ring circus also called the Budget (pronounced bugget) is thankfully over.

As usual the TV channels carried extensive analysis with people from politics, industry giving their “expert” views. Even the common man on the street was interviewed extensively. The TV guys are glad when such an event happens because it gives the anchors a chance to use all the buzzwords they’ve been trained in. Some of the channels have these “face the nation” type programs where the host runs all over the studio getting views and of course giving his view as well.

And finally, a voice of reason from Hyderabad- Balaji, a blogger from Chennai who is currently in Hyderabad, has organized a blogger meet today (16.00 hrs) at:

MPR-216, Building 1,
Microsoft India Development Center,
Gachibowli, Hyderabad -500032

I agree with Vatsan’s comment. Out biggest challenge is not that we don’t come up with good schemes such as the NREGS (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) but that out delivery system is badly broken. The same thing happens all the time, every time.

Methinks our system is in shambles because we are ok with it. It is acceptable to us. At any rate, many of us just don’t care about the country. It is just not our job … especially because it is much easier to blame some one else (politicians) for our responsibility.
