The party is the biggest violator of law and order. The law is disregarded when the interests of party members is concerned. If the state govt wants to restore law and order, let it first stop the criminal extortions, illegal building constructions, privatisation of public space etc etc indulged in by its protected members. The "law" becomes important only when party members are at the receiving end. It is not only in the wake of Singur and Nandigram that people have started speaking out against the CPM. Grassroots activists in rural and urban Bengal have been crying hoarse against the anti-poor fascist thugs for at least 2 decades. But now the middle- and affluent classes too are beginning to see and understand what the CPM is about behind the veil of "bhadra" that people are so enamoured of.
