Kay is disappointed with news channels celebrating minor scoops as ‘achievements’ and ignoring real news:

I am surprised that no medium has taken note of the development. SPARKS proposes to be the voice of young Dalit women of India.

The newsletter aims to make sure that each issue contains “analytical articles, reports, poems, and other form of creative writings in which Dalit women figure – as survivors, protagonists, maybe as victims.” The people behind SPARKS have begun to believe that “Dalit women are often co-opted into the mainstream and their specific issues, concerns and sensitivities are subsumed under either the larger concerns of the community or of women.”
