Taare zameen par?

This movie still seems to be moving a lot of bloggers- Bibin writes:

There is a very destructive trend in India, children are trained and breeded to suceed in things the parents have failed. They are made to fight their parent’s battle not their own. In the film the art teacher shows his frustration by saying “If they are looking for breeding horses for race ahead, then get a breed horse not a child”. I have seen many instances where parents try to fulfil their dreams (which they could not achieve) through their kids. We train their mind for this and call this as discipline, we never let their mind fly free so that they fulfil your dreams. In the course of these, we create a generation with no dreams of their won.

And Sachin seems to echo those views too:

We live in a society where things are labeled and packaged instantly. 14 year old kids are pushed towards Olympic excellence, the weight of soccer teams is thrust on fragile 16-17 year old shoulders and 10 year olds are expected to be future geniuses. But in a fast paced world, not everyone can keep pace. Just like each soccer player and team has its own tempo, so do humans and kids in particular. Schools have multiple kids in one classroom and teachers don’t have time for everyone. Exams are marked quickly because teachers have too much to do. And sometimes, parents do not have time to properly understand their children. So if a child needs help, he/she is bound to be isolated and left on his own.

A Must to Watch Movie : Tare Zameen Par

An amazing and wonderful movie reveals a lot about upper and in most cases middle class parents’ behavior towards a weak-in-study children; and burden of high-pitched expectations of parents which children are bound to bear. As per movie, these small kids are “Tare Zameen Par” and movie successfully leads parents to introspect themselves and realize “every child is special”.

The movie is about a child named “Ishaan” who is poor in studies and need psychological treatment and supportive behavior of parents and teachers but he only receive scolds from teachers and parents. No one could see his creative mind in painting in the rage of his poor studies. His father wanted to put extra burden on him to mend his ways and sends him in a boarding school where he gets his situation more deteriorated. When his situation is about to go worst, just at that particular time a drawing teacher (Amir Khan) enters in his life and understands his problem and take him away of it with his own techniques. How everything takes place is make this movie a classic one. Amir Khan in his debut film as a director holds a complete professional grip on the subject. This excellent-made has an ability to turn people’s mind to think differently and genuinely on this very much sensitive issue.

In this era of competition, it is not only parents but also mostly the children who are affected to the level that its harmful psychological symptoms are prominently coming up into sight now. In the past recent years, a good few numbers of children have embraced death, the sole reason being they could not make up-to-the-mark performance in their studies. For them, the failure was the end of their life. Children are at last children. They don’t know how to fight with such circumstances or are immature to come out from such situations. They are not grown up enough to understand that if entrap in a problem; this is not end of the world. In fact, in most of the cases, no one come forward in these alleged bad days of children to build a psychological rapport with these innocent victims to counsel them. Parents think that their duty is over if they are successful in fulfilling children’s basic needs. Whereas the basic needs are not much of concern in comparison to understand their psychology and what appeals to children’s childhood is their natural creativity. They need regular small pushes of encouragements by teachers and parents. It is the prime duty of parents and teachers to help a child in searching its natural instinct and to nourish and flourish it. Children are amused by the small achievements they do and achieve at their own. They have a different viewpoint towards life. For them, whatsoever is the hindrance in this is the hindrance indeed.

Whereas, on the other side, parents get so much panic about their children that they can’t afford child to lag behind in the dog-race of cutthroat competition. They want desired results by hook or by crook. For them, marks are the only criteria to measure their intelligence. It is unacceptable and intolerable if child is unable to be a “marks-machine” son. Parents acts selfishly and support the child who acts well in studies but sometimes cross all the limits of rudeness in blaming a child who is unable to score well in the exams or failed in its studies…no matter how good the child is he? A Sudden and quick harsh remarks are made, no matter how kid may be affected with all this or how dangerous it could be for their growth and life.

Movie successfully raises lot of serious questions like (1) how healthy is our present education system is (2) if a child doesn’t go well in its studies should it loose all the rights to feel worthy? (3) Where this competition race is heading towards? (4) Isn’t these trends are turning our children into machines whose minds become nothing but a store of information after completion of their studies? (5) Can anyone see a humanist viewpoint from the breed of such system? (6) Do we need only professional ones or we also need good human beings who are social in nature? (7) Will anyone think if we keep on like this what will be the shape of our society who is already in an ugly phase? In its own way ‘Tare Zameen Par’ goes ahead of the boundary-wall of concrete problems and touches the other burning but hidden issues. No doubt, our education system is successfully releasing doctors, engineers, IT professionals, Management Professionals, Lawyers and many more experts of their own field, but it’s been fail to wake up a sensitive instinct of social issues or humanism.

But, unfortunately, in this entire process of “from child to youth” our children have no time to learn how to be good and sensitive human beings. Who is responsible for this?…certainly not our children. In fact, we are at such a place competition is turning our little stars into ashes. One can survive it has ability to go ahead ruining others. This is the parameter of success that how clever cum intelligent your child is? How congested has become our destinations that one has to achieves at a cost of other’s failure. All such things fill insecurity in the mind of parents and as a result so many “Ishans” has to become escape-goats in the name of competition. This film leaves every eye tearful but at the same time leaves so many positive questions to find their answers, whose answers are quite apparent in the movie itself. Such films have to be made. I Salute to Amir Khan for making such a beautiful yet sensitive movie.

Well as azad bhai has said..children are after all children..they don know how to fight when entrapped in the problem of this world…if they can fight..then they will not be called children..

all child..whether poor’s or rich..all on this earth are just like seeds..if nourished properly they will turn into trees which delivers without complaining to keep happily..if treated miserly..then they will become thorns like a rose has…

the fault is with the society itself..each n every body wants to boost up their heads high..they want positions in the field they work..they will forget that positions are immaterial..it is the learning which is attached with the work..there are things which one needs to understand…when they dont rise high in their profession then they will see that if i couldnot my kid will..and i guess all indian middle and upper class people want is that their children should start solving calculus and kirchoff’s law the moment they take birth from foetus..they should say F=ma when they speak not MAMA…
child hood is a very sweet thing which i guess all individual on this earth has to enjoy..because once it is over…it never comes back…
and i dont know what parents will get if their child tops in each n every class.that too if he is good in extracurricular then he is a ideal child..the one who cares for their parents even after being cursed by his parents are not ideal child..these are the child who will actually stand up by their parents even when parents are in despair..not those who tops every time..becuase once a child is filled with ego..he is never ever going to sacrifice his life for the sake of his parents..
and on the creative aspects..in my opininon creativity lies everywhere..but in india..the only thing which comes in mind is that being good in math n science is creative..if that would have been the case then i guess there would have been only mathematics everywhere..

and if and only if children are shown a good direction.then they will turn into a better adults and will always do good for society..because a family is also a part of society..

Good Peterparker, define everything so truly. I never experience in the history of my life or read anywhere that social attitude get changed overnight. It is a steady process. In this era of competition everyone is so much filled with insecurity that they just pass on the burden from generation to generation. We almost have forget to live with nature. But now we are at a turning point. Your writing revealing so much about today’s attitude. This is really good. To think clearly is a sign that people have start understanding where the facts are lying. Once one know where exactly the problem is lying, it become easy to remove it.

I hope more writings from your end. I will really appreciate it.

    abhi lo phir…

you have hit on the point..the financial insecurity..if you dont have job.you are useless…even after getting this job, we have to invest..where we will enjoy this money..so the cycle goes like this…and instead of questioning this thing..we are following it..

and now on work part..we just want to label a title…what work we do is immaterial..the only thing is money should come…

it is sad that even after 60yrs of independence, the modern india is still bereft of prodigal geniuses like nikola tesla n edison..rather our prodigal geniuses are the ones who will get marks 499/500(because in english 100 marks cant be given)
