The malls and luxury hotels only exist on one side of the Sabarmati river’s banks in Ahmedabad.
The Muslims say that the west side of the bridge is for the rich, and the east side is for them- the others, the poor, the marginalized, and the disenfranchised.
But even on the right side of the Sabarmati’s banks, you still see shanties by the shore.
