Working next to Jug Suraiya

The walls were the MOST interesting aspect of the room. One wall was papered with a magnified version of the TOI issue the day Gandhiji was assasinated. All old and musty in appearance but glossy and the headlines were visible(it was laminated; a wallpaper) . Th other wall was papered with a glossy collage of pictures of filmstars. This was right above the Bombay Times rows. We walked about, fascinated. People occasionally glanced up to see who we were. I wondered if any of them had covered the Train blasts. Or had talked to Amitabh Bachan(ok Im not his fan or anything, but these people would know the behind the scenes wont they?like if the actors ACTUALLY smile ALLL the time?or theyre just, as i suspect, eternal hypocrites?)

Sharan, sixteen years old, describes a day at the Times of India as a guest editor.
