What is Indian Culture™ ?

Pidog contemplates.

The answer, I mostly get is that we are following the same practices that were followed a hundred years ago. Really? You didn’t have IT companies back then. So, working in an IT company is against “Indian Culture”. We didn’t have automobiles back then or cell phones, or television, or credit cards… and the list is endless. All these things are against the “Indian Culture”. Yet how many people do you see protesting against these? Not a single person!!!! Yet, you have people protesting that English should not be used in official documents, food chains should not open, and some stuff like that.

I have been trying to frame my entire thoughts on this subject for a very long time and not been able to yet. The reason could be that I know where it starts but don’t know how to convince those who have taken the present affairs of our world as granted.

Indian Culture: The first most important for all of us to know is to learn to respect this culture which has a very long standing role in the world’s civilization. If this culture was not strong enough, we would not have become what we are today.

An American Culture, European Culture, Japanese Culture or say Arabian Culture did not look up to culture of other countries to modify theirs. Nor did they develop their from totally adapting to an alien culture. Each of these society have shaped its culture based on their own social mindset.

Whereas, Indian culture appears to have been just suddenly left behind uncared and a new social change has been artificially adapted. Everyone of us know, there is a huge mismatch here. Simply said, there is a sudden long jump in pattern of this culture. Especially in India, there has been a huge generation gap only after India started getting exposed globally.

This new culture is luring with all aspects of fun embedded in it. Naturally the young and old gets attracted to it. But the pity is that we did not develop our own world class culture which could have attracted rest of the world to us instead of we being led by someone else!

Its not only in culture, but Science, Technology, Research, Education …..we lack in the drive to excel in all these. We do not even dare to explore (Otherwise, having Binary system in our Vedas, we would have come out with a Computer before Europeans did even when they were lazy.)

As long as we do not have the mind to excel and look beyond what other countries are living with, we will never be leaders of the world. Our culture has truly fed us with great morals even when Europeans were getting drunk and lazying around. Our culture has scientific approach. Because of our great culture, there were no thieves, no fear of murderers, no worry about safeguarding wealth but a peaceful country thousands of years ago. Various invasions, economic control by other countries have made us to be escapists.

When the ego comes back to the Indian mind, we will start to show rest of the world, what Indian culture is! Till then enjoy your artificial life :)
