Kamran Abbasi at cricinfo blogs calls it the end.
Brave Sri Lanka did not deserve this insult, and all sympathies are with their players and the officials who have been injured. Questions will inevitably be asked about the security arrangements, despite the regrettable deaths of several policemen. How could such a high profile tour have been allowed to have been ruined in this way? What do Pakistani security guarantees count for?
The least of the consequences of this disaster is that those who have advocated the continuation of international cricket in Pakistan – including me – have been proved wrong. No international team will now visit Pakistan, and the Pakistan Cricket Board should voluntarily arrange all future tours at neutral venues for the next year, may be longer.
Yasser Latif Hamdani says.
Sri Lankans won the World Cup in Gaddafi stadium in 1996. That was a different era. Lahore and Pakistan in general was a safe place to be. Lahore was buzzing with foreigners and no one thought for a minute that they could be attacked. Now even Pakistanis are scared of going out. Is there any turning back? Is Pakistan going to unravel in face of forces of extremism, terrorism and fascism?
BBC has a video along with its story.
The BBC’s Barbara Plett in Islamabad says accounts suggest the attack was sophisticated in nature, with one group of gunmen firing a rocket-propelled grenade in order to create a diversion, while others then approached, firing guns on the convoy.
She says the gunmen – two of whom were shown in TV pictures carrying backpacks – seemed to be well-trained.
The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara told Australia’s ABC radio that he and his team mates probably owed their lives to their bus driver.
“Suddenly everyone just said hit the deck, quick, someone’s shooting. And we just hit the floor of the bus and stayed there and we heard the bullets hitting the bus and a few explosions,” he said.
“But, you know, we had an amazing driver who just kept driving the bus straight through all of that to the ground and that’s probably what saved us.”
Vimoh calls it a failed mission.
Linked by madhat. Join Blogbharti facebook group. What did they achieve? Not much. They couldn’t kill a single Sri Lankan cricketer. Their grenades missed the bus. They were faced with men who would rather die than run away (like they did) and let them win.
This was, in more ways than one, a FAILED mission. That’s what their message means and that’s what it must be read as.

it is truly the end.. years of breeding this brand of militants has now led to such a state that they will pick up the guns and grenades for anything that bugs them..
The Sri Lankans didnt deserve this and quite frankly Im amazed how they survived.. but Pakistan really have no chance of escaping the diplomatic implications of this
