Sirensongs posts an account of a monk protesting against China getting attacked in Nepal. A sad account by all counts and some disturbing pictures.
Linked by mridula. Join Blogbharti facebook group.I looked down for just a moment to adjust my camera. Out of nowhere I heard a sickening thud and people started running. I ducked under the porch of the Nyingma Temple (figuring that if I had to, I could go inside - surely they wouldn’t trash the monastery and shrine). The Nepali boys went straight for the one monk of the three protestors - -with large 2×2 wooden sticks raining blows.

Thanks for the link, Mridula. On Monday, as you may have heard, many more monks were attacked here by police - in front of the UN building no less - and one has severe head injuries.

The oppression of free speech continues here in Nepal. There’s so much talk about democracy these days, but Tibetans are not allowed to voice their protests even in a peaceful way! At yesterday’s demonstration, all Tibetans were rounded up in less than 20 minutes! (Photos here, at http://www.msmediaservice.com/joomla/index.php?/nepal-photo/news.html)
