Times of India seems to be in regular habit plagiarizing. This time it is a photograph by Shrinidhi in their Chennai supplement.
I’d clicked this photo few months back at Marina beach and had uploaded it to my blog. Some users have referred to this image in some forum discussions also and incidently, if you search for Chennai police car in google, this image comes first.
I also feel that if your image comes on the first page of Google images, the chances of it getting lifted are more!
And fellow contributor Jo has complied a list of plagiarism incidents by media.

Times of India (TOI) is the most immoral and dangerous news group among all the news groups, it is not just repeated plagiarism by TOI that goes unaccounted and unpunished, they literally copy the titles, the news and content’s from blogs and websites.
Having said the above, the TOI’s immoral behaviors and unethical behaviors go beyond any limits, if you see their news paper front page you will see half naked woman adoring all the times their paper pages, illogical and unsupported political claims of some political party news can be seen on the cover pages, all the above the worst of all is the amount of space they spent for actors and film garbage and some idol stuff too.
Is there an ethical standard of news papers in India…..NO?.
Is there a social and community upliftment objectives in their news at all…….NO?
Do they bring the most important news to Indians………NO?
Do they highlight issues that are most important and need of the hour of India today?…….NO?.
Well, all these applies to other news papers too, but TOI goes a few steps beyond other news papers in violating basics of a news paper.

I have been reading such things lately. It is really annoying. Can’t they afford to ask a simple permission? Do they want to save photographers salary?? It happened many times that some tech story or such news published on yahoo gets a copy paste in TOI same day or 2-3 days later. Is this journalism?? Aren’t you supposed to write in your words??
Saint and Guttu, thanks a lot for sharing your views. I agree with you and I stopped reading TOI a long time back.
