World Class City: Delhi

Monica Mody finds that Delhi has become a dismal city:

The same day, the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) razes a Mughal era monument in Gurgaon to acquire land for the Delhi Metro. The same day, the Delhi govt unveils Master Plan 2021, which imagines, improbably, endless skyscrapers and pedestrian and cycle tracks. The same day, in a readers’ forum, people from Chandni Chowk trash as impractical the Delhi govt’s plan to ban cycle rickshaws from parts of the walled city.

    Hi there,
U need to focus on few things as under.,
Green cover-including people efforts to make their houses more greener.c,mon everyone can plant a tree at the front of their house on the street or inside.
Smoke- Besides transport pollution control, there is an abosolute need to change in the thinking of handling the dried waste like leaves, paper etc.People tend to burn, it cause a lot of smoke etc. Damn, the other day my distant relative burned the kilos of dried leaves, plants etc to avoid giving Rs.20 to the cutter. Well he would have done the same-burn them all.
Segregation of waste- Being living in Europe, I understand the need to segregate the waste, bio waste should be bought back after treatment such as electricity production, humus(KHad) etc. Paper should be recycled to avoid cutting of trees and recycled paper use should be given incentives.
Plastic should be a complete stop. The efficiency of most of the drains in delhi is reduced to 30% due to gutka foils, supari, rajnigandha, uncle chips etc.( only few listed)- Man whats that- do you want stinking water to accumulate during rain on the roads. This is complete waste. well I am too Indian, I do understand the tasks is difficult to achieve but not impossible. The day we learn all these,we are much better than even some industrialised nations in the world. We need to revolutionise ourselves.
Start one good thing from above and you will feel the difference.
    Love Anil Minhans
