Review: Guru

A review of “Guru” by Sleepflower. Read it.

His statements not only assume that capitalism is a natural mode of living, but argue that it’s the best way of living.  There are people who are angry with the system and fight back by fighting the system itself; and then there are people who strive to control the very structures which oppressed them, so they can go on oppressing others.

The movie just depressed me and not only because of the film itself, but the culture around it.  It’s been hailed as wonderful by every Indian I’ve talked to who’s seen it and every review I’ve read.  Is this what people want?  Is this what people really think?  That greed is something that should be envied?  That we should all be Gurus, aiming to earn earn earn?  Guru doesn’t have one interest outside of money, one cause, one passion.
