10 million murders

Usha writes eloquently on female infanticide.

And this is a country where women are supposed to be seen as images of Goddess Durga and Lakshmi. What a country of hypocrites we are? We invoke our scripts and religion when it suits us and do what is convenient for us when it suits us.

With so many years of foeticide, Haryana already faces a situation when there are not enough brides for all the men. So men are buying brides from other States for as little as Rs. 5,000 - a state where buffalos cost more Rs. 40,000. These women are available to all the men in the family. A slave wife for the entire family - can their be a worse degradation for a woman?

Usha has stretched things too much. I dont know if she is aware of the social reasons of all this, she is giving wrong reasons and information on infanticide in Haryana.
    1. She is right. Society with continuous conflicts have evolved in such a manner that we are not ready to accept that we are living in a fully developed and organized society. But still not only in Haryana but even in US “Hillary” also becomes “Clinton”
    2. Son these days are not required to perform the last rites but to look after the exploits of the ancestors. In almost 100% of the cases the property received by the daughters was sold off.
    3. Is it not true that you need money to bring up your daughter and also you also find yourself tied to certainly responsibilities when bringing her up to grace a new home one day.
    4. Just think of the opposite in todays context in a man’s world.

In Haryana, let me make it clear, the system of 1 bride for 4 is no more acceptable in any class.
Dont think that writing on such issues is useless.
I also have a daughter and understand that wrong is being propagated.
What about issuing appeals to the Docs. who do this, I have never heard any one criticizing the real culprits. Suppose some one has a desire for a son then who told the millions that you can do like this.
We not only need different solutions for solving the problem but time also.
