Tata nano review

Kunal posts a thorough review of the much hyped Tata Nano. He calls it “a modified Share-Auto”:

A popular member of the low segment car, Nano is supposed to be better amongst the counter-parts, The Maruti 800 and The Alto. So much so, Nano is said to posses 21% more interior space than any other car in it’s segment. The Fiber Glass body makes it a light weight model allowing more fuel efficiency. Space constraint is never a problem in the car which seated 4 decent sized people in it. The Engine is rear driven with the engine placed at the rear end. The Engine is a Kinetic make , 2 cylinder petrol that promises a fuel efficiency of over 20kmpl. The car has a top speed of 105 kmph which is completely acceptable given it’s cost and the size.

Some interesting news. Fiat and Ferrari will be using Tata Nano’s platform to create their own cars. Surprisingly, Ferrari chooses for a Hatch back???????????????? I am surprised!!!!!

Tata Nano is ofcourse the cheapest car in the World, but today in India, it is a style statement. If you own one, it would envy your neighbour. Thought this exitemnet will die as time goes, but Tata has made it looking like buying a Nano is a royal thing.

You would agree with the above statement if you understand why. To get your hands on a Tata Nano, you will have to buy a lottery ticket (pun intended) type of Registration form for Rs. 300, with downpayment of upto 1.2 lacs. And a computer will decide you fate, whether you will even get one!

Tata made the Indica for close to 3-4 lakhs and it was a piece of junk for a long time. Now, it is a slightly better piece of junk, after years of re-engineering and refining (read as solving problems).

Tata has not made ONE world class product in ANY segment. Now, it has brought us something highly compromised in many ways, just to cut costs. No Indian car buyer willing to effectively spend 1.4 lakhs is going to be satisfied with junk.

It is probably good to wait and watch, but if you are going to spend a lakh today on a car, I’d rather suggest you get a second hand Maruti 800 – proven car, with a very good service infrastructure.

Tata is making a statement here, but we don’t need statements, we need a robust, performing car that can go wherever we want, whenever we want. A top speed of 105? Come on!

TATA NANO! Name suits the car very perfect! Small body, small engine, he he a small fuel tank(15ltrs).Even a bike has 18 ltrs fuel tank! Peoples who jus boast tat, they 2 ve a car ll buy this NANO!Really if u need a car, go to M800! tats the real small CAR! Can even drive from North to south end of India.Best in class! To say frankly TATA has lauched a royal “autorickshaw” which has 4 tyres.
And the speed! Oh no! How can it reach 105KMPH?Any joke?won’t it fly in the air?M800 can be pulled upto 130kmph.True!
Another thing is the cost… How did they kept the name as 1 lakh car? On road price of the “FULLY LOADED”lolz… NANO is nearly 1.85L.. Still can say a big list ….

Where can we go in this car?15*18(approx)=270Kms.
Nothin can be done with this ! Think ve 2 carry a fuel can while travelling !Sorry ! How can a auto rickshaw can be driven 4 a long distance?
    M800 can do 35*18(approx)=630
9 hours sold drive without stopping for fuel filling is possible!
Don ever see the price or features, jus think tat it must be a car!!…

Interesting calculation. But I believe this car is ment for City and small travel so I cannot imagine why the fuss over the long distance run. I agree that you might have to refuel it more frequently, but then I believe if you run in City, you would be able to extract more than 18 KMPL.

I would completely agree with Hemal…In a country like ours where buying a car is a dream come true for its people, Tata Nano is ofcourse a reason to cheer for all Indians.I think we all Indians should be proud of Nano!!3 cheers for TATA NANO!!

India is always being a very unfortunate country, where Indians themselves don’t appreciate what is made by Indian and keep on praising imported things…

Infact International car makers are quite impressed by Tatas, where here people in India treat a wonder as Royal Autorickshaw.

I totally agree with Tania and my only take on the above comments, is if you don’t like it, no one has forced you to buy.

I think we Indians should change our attitude and think of others before ourselves. Think of persons, who cannot afford to buy cars for 3 lacs, now atleast they can have one…

    Cheers to Tata…

    My dear friends,
Hope that you are not so critical abou your parents,
for 1.5l what did you expect- a rolls!
Pl use your common sense; I booked 5 nanos and have got delivery for one and apr-jun allotment for another. The car’s a breeze in city and have not taken my Captiva out since, excepting long drives. No one is saying that it is a replacement for your regular car; but a second car and a definite replacement to your empiricaly safe Motorcycle.
So shut up and go get one if you have some dough to spare for the TATA’s with any right sense should increase the price.
Hats off to the TATA group… they have started a revolution.

Tata is cheating the public by giving false advt and news be carefull before you buy this car. Spare parts are more costly than the vechile cost it is usefull for upperclass people who have 4 or 5th car at their shed dont think of tatat vechiles unless you die, specially their dealers service is very worst

I am one of the person afftected with the TATA product
