Floods in West Bengal

In a detailed post, Ritwik gives a first hand account of what he saw and what he lived through during the ongoing floods in West Bengal’s Midnapore:

Our Chief Minister informed us that the Army has been called in for both Purba and Paschim Medinipur, 150 local boats and 7 army speed boats have been pressed into action. He did not inform us that 4 of these 7 army boats were not functioning, he did not tell that every flood affected gram panchayat has been alloted only 44 KGs of rice and 2 sheets of polythene, it was not known then that the District Magistrate would only send rice and potato, not even fuel or water!
