Who cares if its a girl?

In a really heartbreaking account, Roop Rai chronicles the unfortunate state at the RSRM hospital at Royapuram, Chennai where two families who have had children born the day before laying claim to male child, while nobody wants the female one.

“We paid them money at every stage. A ward boy took Rs 300 saying it was a baby boy. But when my wife was wheeled out, she had a baby girl with her,” said Ansari. “We would have happily taken the girl home. But the doctor who attended to my wife told us that she delivered a boy”

Strange, how economics and the society conspire to even make a mother disown her newborn girl child.
